About SEMG

The Spanish Society of General and Family Doctors (SEMG) is the scientific society of General and Family Physicians whose mission is to consolidate the representation of General and Family Physicians and enhance their position before official bodies, the health administration and citizens.

Its objective is the best and most appropriate scientific, research and professional development of General and Family Medicine and the professionals who practice it, all put at the service of the population to guarantee the health and quality of life of patients.

One of its priority objectives is the continuous training and updating of its members, being involved in numerous training projects and in a wide range of areas of scientific interest for doctors who carry out their work in the field of Primary Care. It has different working groups that maintain a high quality of training and research. It has been a pioneer in the ultrasound training of Primary Care doctors, thanks to its Ultrasound Section, developing courses, conferences and conferences since 1991 and sponsoring and participating in numerous publications on this topic. They are also pioneers in the computerization of medical consultations with the creation, developed by the Informatics Area, of the HIPOCRATES program and later with the HIPOSEMG XXI program that continues to be currently used in many consultations.
